Tom Thumb

ACTIVITY 1: SUMMARY

There was a poor woodman that was sat in his cottage. He was smoking a pipe and his wife sat next to him. They talked about how lonely they were. But, the wife said that a child had to be much little, in the size of her thumb. When she thought about that, his wish has been fulfilled, and a little boy appeared. They called him Tom Thumb.
A day, the woodman needed someone to help him with the equipments and Tom volunteered himself. While he made it, his dad laughed and said that he couldn’t make it because his size but the Tom said that his father could believe in him and let him go.
The mother put the cart with a horse and Tom in the horse’s ear, so he controlled the horse till the father. In the middle of the way, he saw to boys and they felt scared with the horse, and followed Tom till the wood.
The two strangers wanted to buy Tom, but the woodman didn’t let them, but after agreed with Tom and sold him for a big piece of gold.
Tom and his “new family” walked till nightfall and he said to rest. But Tom escaped and went to home. He found a hiding-place and slept there.
While he was sleeping, he heard two guys and they were talking to steal the parson’s house. The little man made a plan. He said that he would help them, but he saved the parson’s house of being assaulted. And slept the rest of the night in the hay-loft.
But when he got up, he was in the cow’s mouth. After, he listened a voice and started to shout as loud as he could. So, a person thought that the cow was talking, went to talk to the parson about that. He went there and proved what she said and killed it. And the stomach, where Tom was, was thrown downhill.
The little man heard a wolf coming on. The wolf opened the stomach to eat and Tom started to shout. They made a deal. The wolf could go to Tom’s house and get every food he wanted, but he had to come back and take Tom there. Tom started to shout and his parents got up and his father killed him. Tom was in safe.

ACTIVITY 2

In our fairy tale, Tom Thumb, the character who we would be friends with is Tom Thumb, because he saved the parson; he thought in his family when the strangers bought him and he walked, alone, back to his house. The characters who we have less in common are the robbers because we don’t like to rob and commit crimes.

ACTIVITY 3

The message behind the tale we read is that the size does not influence the capacity to be bigger, but it matters how big of intelligence, the capacity to be smarter and to know how to get on your own. We got to this conclusion when he saved the parson’s house no worrying about his size.

ACTIVITY 4

A fairy tale is much important for children and for adults too. For children they can instruct them, with easy words, big things, good things. And for adults they can make them return to the youth and see how important they are. As much parents read fairy tales for their children, better people they’ll be.

ACTIVITY 5

Key Words: SMALL, ADVENTURE, BIG THINGS.

ACTIVITY 6

This notice was choosen because it has a big similitary with our story “Tom Thumb”, that talks about a little boy that saves a house from a robbery. The news is about a six-years-old child who saved a baby from a fire.
ACTIVITY 7

ACTIVITY 8

In the fairy tale “The raven” there is not the news, only the message, which says: The story's message is that we always must search for our problem's solutions, and search for the love of our lives. I've reached this conclusion because the maiden tried to solve her problems and she could do it, but with the help of the love of her life.”.
We agree with it, because all of us must look for our loves and try to always solve our problems. Doing this, we can have a better life and solve our problems with more facility.
